PARISONGO

Parisongo is a Cuban music group founded in 2022 by two renowned Cuban musicians: Peter Barriz (former singer of Lachy y la Suprema Ley and Pupy y los que Son Son) and Deivys Rubalcaba Iznaga (former percussionist of Pedrito Calvo, El Niño y la Verdad, Pablo FG and Alain Pérez).

The name Parisongo is a tribute to Paris, the city where Peter lives today, and to songo, an emblematic musical genre created in the 1970s by one of the most influential Cuban orchestras in history: Los Van Van.

Parisongo was founded shortly after Peter Barriz arrived in France. He spent a long time playing in leading orchestras on the Cuban salsa scene and in prestigious groups that regularly toured internationally.

Driven by the desire to pursue this artistic standard outside of Cuba, he chose to settle in France in order to create a musical project that lives up to Cuban standards: exacting standards, fervor, virtuosity and authenticity.

Composed of 11 musicians, Parisongo offers a completely original repertoire, deeply rooted in songo and traditional Cuban music, while also embracing other musical influences. The group has already performed at numerous festivals and on major Parisian salsa stages, selling out several concerts in prestigious venues such as Cabaret Sauvage and La Marbrerie.
