Alexis El Mura
y Su Timbre Latino

Alexis Donatien Despaigne, better known as Alexis "El Mura", is a Cuban singer and musician born in Santiago de Cuba in 1973, the iconic birthplace of Cuban son and guaracha.

He studied singing at the Esteban Salas Professional School of Music, where he trained in vocal techniques and the foundations of Afro-Latin music.

At the age of 20, El Mura founded his first musical group, Banda XL, with which he recorded his debut album, "XL Talla Extra", and began performing both in Cuba and abroad.

In the 2000s, his talent led him to collaborate with several renowned Cuban orchestras, including Son 14 (founded by the legendary Adalberto Álvarez), Sur Caribe, Los Karachis, and La Ley del Son. He also shared the stage with international stars such as Oscar d’León, Puerto Rico’s Gran Combo, and Colombia’s Grupo Niche.

Building on this experience, Alexis El Mura later moved to Paris, where he founded his own group in 2016: El Mura y Su Timbre Latino. This musical project brings together a lineup of about 9 to 10 musicians, exploring a rich palette of Cuban and Latin rhythms—primarily Cuban son, salsa, and timba—while adding his personal style and stage charisma.

The orchestra is known for its infectious energy, lively performances, and ability to get audiences dancing at salsa nights, festivals, and cultural events across France and Europe.

Alexis El Mura and his group released the album "De la Loma Vengo", a musical offering that highlights their authentic and blended sound, celebrating both Cuban traditions and Caribbean influences.
